There aren’t too many third-party autofocus lenses on the market for Nikon Z mount. In fact, the only two that springs to mind are Yongnuo’s 85mm f/1.8 DF DSM and Tamron’s 70-200mm f/4.5-6.3 Di III RXD, both released earlier this year. Now, Yongnuo’s about to release another one. A teaser posted to Yongnuo’s Facebook page, hints at an upcoming Yongnuo 35mm f/2Z DF DSM lens being released soon. Perhaps even later today.

There isn’t a lot of information in the image. There’s a diagram showing the focal length, maximum aperture and dimensions, but that’s pretty much it. It’s interesting to see Yongnuo pushing ahead with autofocus Z mount lenses, though, when almost nobody else is.

There are no solid specs on the lens beyond what we can see in the image, but there are rumours that it’ll have a filter size of 52mm, a minimum focus distance of 35cm and a ridiculously low price of $50. I can see this one becoming a very popular lens for beginner Z mount shooters hoping to save a little money on lenses while they’re starting out and learning the ropes, especially when Nikon’s 40mm f/2 for Z mount costs more than five times as much.

We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
